A musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) is an injury or disorder of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, cartilage, and spinal discs. These may also be called repetitive stress injuries (RSI's)

Ergonomics is a science relating to the principles of work environment design. The goal is to make the workplace fit the worker not to force the worker to adapt to the workplace.

 

Direct Access Physical Therapy will:

  • Foster the prevention of work-related musculoskeletal injuries through education and ergonomic evaluation;Provide on-site access to physical therapy services by licensed physical therapists with specialty skills in ergonomic assessment and industrial related injuries;Enhance the efficiency of medical care delivery as a team member of the ergonomic task force;Assist in the development of corporate policies and procedures. We strive to promote a healthy working environment.Maintain the highest levels of privacy and strict confidentiality;Facilitate the development of an optimal work environment for both employer and employees.

Direct Access Physical Therapists are skilled at identifying faulty work design and are qualified to identify and correct those worker behaviors that can lead to the development of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Our specialty is to teach and motivate people to modify their at-risk work behaviors.

The goal of ergonomics is to provide tools and a workplace in which employees can perform efficiently, safely and with job satisfaction. Direct access Physical Therapists can educate your employees about the ergonomics relationship between the worker and the work-station, identify individuals at risk, and implement and support measures to correct faulty worker behaviors. Using interactive workshops, discussion seminars and individual work-station analysis, Direct Access Physical Therapists can minimize risk and maximize function at the office.
